We recently attended our first Monster Jam and had so much fun! The boys and I had never seen a monster truck in person before and I knew it was something we had to cross off our bucket list.
I’m so glad we went to the show and I’m sharing all the inside scoop, our review and everything you need to know before you go!

What To Expect
Monster Jam is a live motor sport event tour where monster trucks face off in different competitions. You can expect lots of noise, bright lights and a ton of screaming fans. Each monster truck weighs more than 12,000 pounds and generates 1,500 horsepower. These are HUGE trucks that make a lot of noise.
The show starts with a big entrance of all 14 trucks circling the stadium revving their engines and flashing their lights. They then take turns going head to head in racing, two-wheel skills challenge and finishing things off with the freestyle.
It’s also an interactive experience with the audience being able to join in with the judging through Judges Zone website. It’s easy to use and makes the show feel extra special.
Know before you go: it’s a long show so be prepared. The event started at 7:00pm sharp and didn’t end until 9:45pm.
Family Friendly Event
Monster Jam is great for any and all ages and a great family friendly event. My boys really enjoyed seeing the big trucks, cheering them on and watching them do all the cool tricks. There really was a wholesome element to it all and it made me feel comfortable taking kids of any age to this show.
While the trucks are loud and they’re competing with one another, it’s done in a fun way where anyone can enjoy it. If a truck turned over, stalled out or had any issue, they received help immediately. This was one of my concerns prior to seeing the show and I didn’t want it to be violent in any way. Rest assured, it wasn’t! It was good, clean fun.
Know before you go: the opening ceremony is the loudest part of the show when all trucks come in at once. If you are taking little ones, bring your own noise reducing headphones or ear buds. We purchased some Monster Jam themed headphones for $20 a piece at the gift shop. They weren’t the most comfortable but they did muffle a lot of the noise.
Pre-Show Pit Party
Many Monster Jam events offer a Pit Party experience before the show. This is an extra ticketed pre-show event where you can meet the drivers, see the trucks up close, hang out and party. Here’s your chance to get autographs from your favorite drivers and pose for the perfect photo.
Since we’d never been to a Monster Jam before, we weren’t familiar with the drivers or trucks but it was still so much fun to do the Pit Party. Seeing those big trucks right in front of us was worth it! If you’re planning on going, definitely consider springing for the Pit Party.
During the Pit Party they also had a bounce house, balloon animals, sand play, and the gift shop. We got there super early and really took our time exploring and taking photos with as many drivers and trucks as possible.
Know before you go: the lines for meeting some of the drivers can get very long so plan accordingly. However, if you have little ones keep in mind it’s a very long day for them.
We got there when the Pit Party started at 2:30pm and the actual monster truck show wasn’t until 7:00pm. Prepare to stand for a long time. If you’re bringing really little kids, bring a stroller for their convenience.
Also, you’ll be walking around the track the trucks will use so wear comfortable shoes. I recommend sneakers or closed toe shoes.
Monster Jam Review
Monster Jam is a great time for anyone. I really loved the action packed show, the races, and the flips were so cool to see! The drivers are really talented people and I was at the edge of my seat the entire time waiting to see what was going to happen next.
My kids really enjoyed it too! Their faces lit up with excitement whenever any truck practically flew over on the track. I loved watching them cheer everyone on and they told me it was “the best show ever!”
I think anyone will enjoy Monster Jam and recommend checking it out if it’s coming to your city. Remember all of my know before you go tips and you are ready! I’m definitely looking forward to seeing it again when it comes back to South Florida.
